my t a t t o o.
Got my first one earlier this month on vacation in Florida. I've wanted one for a while (& by "a while" I mean since this summer, due to my quarter life crisis). I always said I'd never get one because I couldn't think of anything I'd want on my body for the rest of my life. Then during my quarter life crisis this summer I went to get one done... & couldn't decide what I wanted. I wanted it on my left hip & I wanted a swirly design with stars. I printed off some pictures & then never followed through. Before we left for Miami I decided I was getting it done down there. The whole way down we discussed what I'd get; I'd changed my mind from a swirly/star to text. I listened to song lyrics & kept dismissing everything I heard. I browsed some proverbs online & kept telling myself I'd know it when I saw it (or heard it). I was about to go with "wild at heart" when I saw "love all, trust few." It's Shakespeare & the whole quote is "love all, trust few, do wrong to none" (which I love) from his play All's well that ends well. But the last line sounds too much like the hypocratic oath doctors take.
We walked into the first tattoo shop we saw "to look" and I told the guy what I wanted. He drew it up real quick & showed me. I was in love. He said it'd take about 15 minutes & cost about $150. I said let's do it!
It took more like 30 minutes & wasn't too bad (though I didn't know what to expect) except for near my hip bone. That Fing hurt! I love it & I'm already trying to decide what & where I want my second. Mom wasn't happy. K said it was "fucking retarded." But I love it. & I decided I don't care if I have a baby & it gets stretched out. Or if when I'm 88 & have a cute, young nurse taking care of me she wonders what it's supposed to say. For now it looks good & I love it!
month #1 in Project 3 6 5.
I've wanted to do a photo a day for the past couple of years & never started it. I would've forgotten to start this year also had I not been on vacation. So I'm doing it.
I'm not pressuring myself to take a photo every single day. My goal is to take a photo more days than I don't take a photo.
So here's January. & I failed. I took 15 photos. But it's ok. February will be better!

Some I'm cropping, some I'm not. Some are horizontal, some are vertical. Some are taken with my digital camera, some are taken with my Blackberry. I have no plan for this. I have no plan for the finished project. I don't want it to feel like a work project. I don't want to think about it too much. I want it to be fun.

perfect fit [round 2].
I was extra inspired by the category at Category Stories this month. I had saved the tags off the last few pairs of jeans I bought with a layout in mind... These jeans are my absolute favorite. They fit perfectly.

thank you for being a friend.
For Scrapping the Music challenge #116...

Part of an email intervention my best friend had with me a few months ago. I haven't used a font or printed journaling in a long time, but I wanted to include her words to me & not in my handwriting.

Dear 2009,
You were not my favorite year. You brought heart ache & a quarter life crisis. You brought the break up of the guy I thought I'd marry... 2 cavities, a broken camera, a mole biopsy... you ripped the skin off during eyebrow waxing & blew up my boat 2 days after buying it. You had more bills insurance wouldn't cover & 2 job interviews without offers. You had one of my best friends not speaking to me for a month & an email intervention from my BFF. & you got me r o o f i e d. Through it all I've become stronger & I am over you. Leave peacefully & take your drama with you. 2010 will be good! Thanks in advance. -AshleyTuesday, December 22, 2009

December Challenge Masters.
I don't really have room in my one bedroom apartment for a big Christmas tree, nor do I have the storage for it for the other 11 months of the year. So I dug out my little two foot tree my aunt made me 20 years ago. My mom said, "Can you believe you're old enough to have something that is 20 years old?!" No, I can't actually. Thanks mom.
It's still in good condition. All the ornaments & decorations will still intact. Well, they were intact from when I packed it up for the last time however many years ago. The lights even still work! I was crazy surprised when I plugged it in & they came on.
I got some pink disco ball ornaments from Hobby Lobby & some silver beads from WalMart to bring it into this decade. & it's so pretty! K makes fun of it because it's so small & he says it isn't a real tree. But it's pretty & it's mine. & it's 20 years old!

mini fun.

I decided to make a mini with the pics from S's bachelorette party. Moonie gave me this one in TX & I've been waiting for the perfect use. It's small & there's not much room for embellishments, especially bulky ones. I kept it simple with stickers & rub ons & a little bling because what's a bachelorette party without bling?!
