Menominee Park.

I'm starting in on our vacation photos from our end of July trip to Wisconsin. On the Saturday we were there, I didn't set the alarm right so we overslept & missed the Packers practice. We also had to stop at Kohls to find a long sleeve shirt - it was only 55 degrees there! So we arrived to watch the players come back from practice on the bicycles & then we headed for Oshkosh. There were outlets there I wanted to hit & then afterward, TJ found a nearby park on Lake Winnebago. The park had a "zoo" alebit small. 

I forget what these animals are called (& I've tried Google-ing to no avail) but there was a food dispenser nearby & for 25 cents you got a handful of food. I think we ended up spending $1 feeding them. They moo-ed & perked up when they heard the machine & immediately came to the fence. 

I was inspired by the polka dots challenge at City Crafter + Rochelle Spear's 'travel themed' challenge + Kristie B's August challenge.

Everything is from the August Studio Calico kits + I added some Elle's Studio serendipity tidbits.

I found a stack of photos from my year of third grade. Our teacher sent home a folder at the end of the year with bits of writings, accomplishments/awards, & photos she had taken throughout the year. Of the girls in this photo, I am still in touch with two of them. One is my cousin & she is expecting a baby next month. The other was a good friend through high school & college & she now lives in Kansas & just had a baby.

 I used the August Studio Calico kits Woolf & Salinger on this one. I think the only thing from the main kit (Marks & Co) is the gold washi, which is just beautiful. I was inspired by this sketch at Scrap Much?, which I converted to 8x5 x 11 size.

Love Knots is one of my favorite Gelatins stamps. I love this stamp! I paired it with a sentiment stamp from Little Buddies. 

The pink ink on the background Love Knots stamps is Pretty in Pink by Stampin' Up. The sentiment is stamped with onyx Staz On. The papers are from my July Studio Calico kit. The little jar is cut from a Dear Lizzy patterned paper from the Lucky Charm collection. I added some Timeless Twine & a label sticker from Crate Paper Paper Heart collection.

 I used three stamps from Sweet Stamp Shop on this card. The background stamp is distressed chevron & I love this background stamp. I also used warm notes & old fashioned afternoon (sentiment). The inks are Prima chalk ink in moss lawn & onyx black by Versafine. The chevron patterned paper is by October Afternoon, the arrows are Freckled Fawn (inked with American Crafts pigment ink) & the twine is Timeless Twine.

Whimsical Twist blog hop & first challenge [summer]!

Welcome to Whimsical Twist's first challenge!

I was really inspired by this mason jar photo from our inspiration board, which made me think of camping. I don't camp BUT we did have a fire over at mom's & made s'mores that were really yummy. So I thought those photos would work really well with my idea.

The background paper is an older piece of Pink Paislee from the Enchanting line & I used a 6x6 patterned paper from the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection. I also used some Studio Calico stamps (July kits), Sweet Stamp Shop (Warm Notes) & the 'remember this' stamp is from shopevalicious.com. The inks I used were both Prima chalk inks - shabby tote & English Ivy. Everything else is from the Whimsical Twist store.

Here's our sketch for this week: 

I changed the sketch to 8.5x11 size for my 2012 album. These photos are from our trip to Chicago, visiting the place where John Dillinger was shot.

Most everything on this page came from my June Studio Calico kit, Roundabout. I added the Jillibean Soup diecut cardstock placement & the MME label stickers (Lost & Found3). The stamp is from the kit & I used Staz On ink in jet black. I also inked the wood veneer arrow with Prima chalk ink in shabby tote.

Let's Capture our Memories design team call!

Our next DT call is open! 

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about creating and inspiring others. If you are not afraid to think outside the box, let loose and have fun getting creative with your projects, then you are perfect for our Let's Capture Our Memories Design Team! 

Requirements: Let's Capture Our Memories is seeking designers who are interested in working with a team to create a variety of projects such as layouts, cards and/or altered art. You must have an active blog and you are willing to promote Let's Capture Our Memories on any online galleries/forums you participate as well as all aspects of social media and you are able to commit to a 4 month term from September 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. 

Responsibilities: 1) Create 2-3 projects per month. 2) Post your projects on the Let's Capture Our Memories blog, your own blog, your Facebook page and/or Twitter account on a weekly basis. 3) Promote Let's Capture Our Memories through your own personal blog, Facebook, Twitter and any online forums you are able to. 4) You will create projects on a rotational basis as scheduled. Send your "assignments" in a timely manner. 5) Upload your Design Team projects into the LCOM gallery monthly. 6) Some Forum participation will be required. 

We are also looking for creative individuals to create sketches for our Design Team and individuals to create projects that involve a make/take, technique or tutorial including step out photos or video and instructions for our readers.

Packers training camp.

I'm linking up with Erin today to share about our trip last weekend to GB Packers training camp.We drove up Thursday, practices were scheduled Friday, Saturday, & Sunday mornings. Somehow I didn't set the alarm right Saturday so we overslept & missed practice. Sunday was the first practice with pads & was also an hour longer.

Their tradition is to ride little kid's bikes to and from practice every day:

 We did the stadium tour while we were there, which after doing the Dallas Cowboys stadium tour, did not compare at all. We felt ripped off! We didn't get to see the player's locker rooms, the media room, the visiting locker rooms, or the cheerleader's locker rooms. We also didn't get to go on the field. It wasn't a self-guided tour like the Dallas tour was, & our group felt a little large & rushed. We were toward the back of the group so we couldn't hear most of what the guide was saying, plus if we wanted to stop & peek at things, they rushed us along since we were the last ones in the group. Overall, it was still neat to see & I would recommend it.

There's an optional Hall of Fame tour you can purchase with the stadium tour so we did that too since we were there. A lot of history!

Practices started at 8:20 a.m. & our hotel was pretty convenient but we still had to get up early to get there & find a parking spot. We watched the players ride the bikes down to the practice field & then we headed down there ourselves. From our seats, we mostly saw the quarterbacks & the receivers. Not that I am complaining!

I was a little disappointed in Aaron. He didn't participate in the bike riding tradition & we also didn't see him interact with any fans at all. In fact, what we saw him do Sunday was sneak out of practice & get into a truck to be escorted back to the locker room. Lame!

Today I'm sharing a card I made with TWO Gelatins stamp sets! I used the SWAK stamp set + the leopard background. I love animal prints!

The background stamp is inked with American Crafts pigment ink. I added some washi & a strip of paper.  The speech bubbles are cut from a piece of patterned paper (Pebbles Seen & Noted|Take Note). I also used a vellum stitched heart from Amy Tangerine + the "kisses" sentiment is from the Studio Calico Wildberry Court kit.

The lips from the SWAK stamp set are inked with poppy parade by Stampin' Up. Such a pretty red color & it looks like real lips! This card measures about 4.25 inches tall x 4.375 inches wide.
