give thanks [banner].

I recently found some banner cards on clearance from the DIY Shop by American Crafts. They're kraft colored and already cut in the banner shape so I thought I'd make a little Thanksgiving banner.

I cut the letters out using my Cricut. I heat embossed leaves on the banner with gold embossing powder + a Unity stamp set. I used Walnut Stain distress ink around the edges and then I used some twine from my stash. Relatively simple + quick.

Isn't he so sweet?  My cousin posted this few days after he was home. I wanted to pull the blues and yellows out of the photo to use on my layout. I really loved the layering on this sketch. I used strips of paper and tags and flags and my circle punch. and brads! which I never use. So I hope you'll get some inspiration here today and try your hand and creating something with this sketch. Rubber Dance Stamps: guest designer.

Hey everyone! It's the the second Tuesday in November which means we have a card sketch up on the Stick It Down blog! Here was our sketch this month:

I wanted to make a card for a girl I used to work with. I recently changed jobs and she made me a cake and gave me a really sweet card. I miss working with her and I wanted to send her a nice thank you card. I used a Hero Arts Cling Dots background stamp with grey and navy ink to create sort of an ombre effect.  When I saw this Kelly Purkey stamp in my stash, I knew it would be perfect to use for her. I used a Hero Arts die cut and a Paper Smooches sentiment stamp on orange for a pop of color. Here's my card:

TJ and I met Andrew and a girl he is dating down at Banker's Life Fieldhouse after work on a Tuesday evening. It was a fun game - it's always fun to watch the Pacers play!

I made a 12x12 layout for this month's hop. I toned my photo sepia  and then I used the Moon Shine mist from the Sweet Treats mists by Lindy's Stamp Gang. I sprayed it using the mask and then I also used some ink splatters on the page. It's hard to see the dimension in the photo, but I mixed some of the Moon Shine mist with white gesso and stamped some images from the Art Textures cling rubber stamp set. I've said it before, but I'll say it again, the Art Textures + the Scriptures stamp sets are my favorites (so far!) from PWP. I used both stamp sets on my page. I also used the sepia toned mist on my chipboard hearts. I've linked my PWP products below.

Gracey|Turtle Soup.

I participated in the November sketch reveal at Turtle Soup today. Turtle Soup is the forum for Scrapbooking Turtle online store. Here's the sketch we used for this month's reveal:

I used some photos I had taken with my phone back when we were fostering Gracey this summer. We had her June 26 - August 3. She was a sweetie. A tiny little thing, 100% Lab, picked up as a stray in the Evansville area. I got her after her vet visit for microchipping, shots, and spay. She was supposed to stay "quiet" for a week longer.  Yeah, right. She and Bentley got along very well (B gets along with everyone) and she was very smart. They played 110% of the time. Gracey is a cute girl and super sweet, so she was hard to stay mad at. Really, she was well behaved for a Lab her age; she just needed some obedience training. I worked with her a lot and taught her SIT, DOWN, we were still working on STAY and OFF. I also taught her to sit at the door before we opened it, which is what we make B do. They also sit before we set down their food and water bowls. She was adopted by a really great family who has an older yellow female Lab so she'll have a companion. But she was a hard goodbye. [cue the Gary Allan song...] TJ wanted to adopt her and I cried the day she left. But I know she's in a happy forever home and we are still in contact with her adoptive family.

Stick It Down design team call!

It's time once again for a design team call! 

We are looking for new members for each of our teams - single page layouts, double page layouts and cards. 
Our next term will run from January to June 2015 so please do not apply if you cannot commit to this time frame. 

What you will do: 

• provide one project per month with a possible special event during the six month term comment on all submissions as you are assigned  
• post our challenge to your blog and other social media outlets  
• have projects completed ahead of time in order to meet the deadline 

 What you need: 

• an active blog 
• a facebook account as this is where the DT "meets" 
• a love for sketches 

What we will do: 

• provide the sketches at least one month in advance 
• provide your posting schedule and commenting assignments 
• be supportive and encouraging 
• share your photo and your link on our blog 
• share your project on various social media outlets 

How to apply: 

• send an email to Stick it Down with the subject line "Design Team Call" include your name and location include a list of current teams (no experience necessary!) 
• include 3 of your favourite layouts or cards that best display your style and suit the requirements of the team you are applying for (ie, submit cards if you are applying for the card team) 
•  introduce yourself in few brief sentences 

This call is open to everyone including our current team members and will run from November 1st to November 21st. The new team will be notified by November 28th and announced by December 1st. The new team's projects will be revealed on January 1st.

Hey everyone! This is my last reveal for October on ScrapMuch?! It's hard to believe October is almost over! This week we had a really cool sketch. It was different for me, which was kind of fun. Here it is:

My layout is from our trip to FL back in April when I got my third tattoo. I had quite an audience (TJ, his sister, her two youngest, her oldest + his girlfriend). It's my week to share on the Let's Capture our Memories blog! We're releasing sketch #94 this week! This was a fun sketch and this layout came together easily. Here's what our sketch was:

This is my little's cousin's baby. He finally got to go home from the hospital about a month after he was born. I used some stuff from my Studio Calico Freemont Glades add on kit. SC had a sale over Labor day weekend with several old kits on sale for $10. I picked up three :) I followed the sketch pretty closely on this one, aside from shrinking it down to 8.5x11 size and using only one photo.

Hey ya'll! We're up on the blog at ScrapMuch?! with another Sketchy Friday. This was a great sketch - wait until you see all the interpretations from the design team. 

Here was our sketch:

I used a smaller scale version of the sketch - 8.5x11 layout size. I used one photo (a small Instagram photo) and some Crate Paper tags. This is how it looks:

 

This is a pretty simple layout. I used some Studio Calico stamps + VersaFine ink (onyx) and just added some chipboard stickers by Hello Forever + Studio Calico. I sprinkled some mist by Tattered Angels (chalkboard Mantis) and used a Crate Paper date stamp for the hearts (+ green American Crafts pigment ink).

bushels of fun [LCOM 92].

Hey everyone! Can you believe it's October now?! It's Saturday which means it's also our sketch reveal on Let's Capture our Memories. Fittingly, I have an autumn layout to share today. Here was our sketch:

I had some trouble getting started on this layout. Finally I decided to scale it down to 8.5x11 size and not use the sketch so literally. Here's what I came up with:

Last weekend we went to a local farmer's market where I got the pumpkins, bale of straw, and some mums. I don't have much outdoor autumn decor and I didn't decorate at all last year since I didn't move in until November. This didn't photograph very well but I promise it looks cute in real life. & I made the burlap wreath on my door too!

My paper, vellum, and chipboard piece are from Studio Calico kits. My wood veneer buttons & houses are Crate Paper; the wood leaves are Creative Embellishments chipboard. The little die cut pieces are from October Afternoon & then the two smaller pattern papers are 3x4 project life cards.
