December Scrap Muse kit peek.

December = Christmas. Anyway you slice it.
I'm totally not a fan of themed kits. October wasn't Halloweeny. February won't be overload Valentinesy. December isn't too Christmasy.

thrifty.

Can you ever have too many of these?! Got these two today for $1.30. So excited.

Also got this for $4. Not entirely sure what I'm going to put in them, but they're cute. Something will look really cute in them.

I did these two with the November Scrap Muse kit. Some fun times in SC with the Tally girls. I miss them.

SC review.

The ride to SC seemed to take forever. Depending on who you ask, it took between 14-29 hours. Somehow the ride back from SC to Louisville flew by & Bre & Shan spend about 4 hours waiting on their flight. We stopped at a McDonalds before we got to Louisville & took some shots in the bathroom, which was pretty hilarious.

I ended up only getting one layout complete for myself. I stole a pic of Maxx & scrapped him. Then we did two round robins that were fun.

The restaurant was interesting. Our cook (aka Mickey Mouse) totally flaked on the chef hats he promised us. Nerd is totally as cute in real life. Plus he smells good. I ordered the most American food I could find: spring rolls. Turns out they weren't very American. They had what I call jellyfish tentacles in them, though I'm uncertain what they actually were.

Christine brought us the best prizes ever. Looove my Glitz. & my cute little pendant for a necklace. This is my new mantra. Hey, it saved us once in traffic on the way to Louisville.

typewriter!

Mom has a booth at an antique mall & has always been interested in antiques. I've gone to antique stores with her over the years. I decided tonight that I needed a typewriter. With my instant gratification (& a pending DT deadline) I couldn't wait. We drove right to an antique mall that stays open late. The whole way there she's telling me I won't find a typewriter, they don't exist, she's never seen one in an antique store, blablabla. I said yes. We will. Rachel found one. I've seen several in the stores we've been on over the past few months, but never really wanted one until tonight. I knew they existed.

Lo & behold, on the third floor. There were at least three. I got mine for $6. I love it.

September Scrap Muse kit.

I've said it every month, but this month's kit is my favorite. These papers are absolutely gorgeous. & as you all know, I'm an embellishment junkie... There are tons of neat embellishments in this kit. Cute little flowers & some swirly pearly things & some neat ribbons.

vacation.

I am officially on vacation. For one week. I am loving it. Except I wish I could have slept in today. But we're leaving for Florida. Hope we don't get swept away by a hurricane.

I leave with another August layout. I painted the letters & while the paint was still wet, flocked them. So fun.

August kit peek.

Found this sweet old pic of my mom & her siblings. The kit was perfect for it! Love those crochet butterflies & the rub ons were super slick to use. Also used flock for the first time ever on my title. Messy & oh, so fun!

I'm going to South Carolina!

I've been on the fence forever about whether I could pull off this TallyRally in October. The thought of driving that far alone & spending a weekend with "strangers" scares me. The thought of finally meeting these "strangers" excites me. What am I going to tell my mom, my friends, & my boyfriend? My mom will think it's a bad idea to drive alone. My friends won't understand & will think I'm crazy. My boyfriend doesn't even know I scrap. We'll see how that goes. Anyway, I'm going! It's decided. & I'm mailing Jan my money today!

+ It's my weekend off.
- I'll be gone all weekend.
+ I can use mom's GPS.
- It's a 9 hour drive.
+ I have a brand new car & my oil is being changed this month.
- I'm driving by myself.
+I'll get to meet these people who basically know everything about me anyway.
- I'm super quiet/borderline shy.
+ I've never done anything like this & it will be a good experience.
- I've never done anything like this & it makes me a little nervous.
+ I've never been to a crop.
- I've never been to a crop.
+ Earmuffs with Bre.
- Moon isn't coming.

the night we kidnapped...

This was created with my new Black Market Paper Society gorgeousness (with some Bam Pop). I got the ebony & alabaster collection & it is just fabulous. I thoroughly enjoy the black & white look anyway, but the texture on these papers is amazing. You can find them in the store at Scrap Muse & you will not be disappointed!

my desk.

I got this baby at an antique store down the road for $70. When I first started looking, $70 seemed like a lot. But after browsing several stores & seeing many desks in worse condition, without chairs, & for over $100, I realized this was a good deal. Lots of drawers. In good shape. The dark wood matches my bedroom furniture pretty well. & I needed a chair.

My first antique!

I love it.
[sorry my room is kind of messy.]

he's 6.

I've been saying Hunter is 4 for the past three years. After a conversation with my mom tonight, I realized he's not 4 anymore. He's 6. Which saddens me because his life is half over. & although he still acts very much like a puppy & if you just met him, you'd think he wasn't a day over 2 based strictly on his behavior, he is getting a gray chin & he is getting older. No signs of slowing down yet, but there will be soon. & it makes me sad. I can remember the day we brought this little 3 month old baby home.

last one.

Last page I created with the Scrap Muse July kit. I created five layouts, but I still have plenty left over to create more, which I plan to do as soon as I get some new pics to scrap with! This is a great kit!

I added the letter stickers & numbers. Everything else is from the kit.
I always do one of these "review" pages on my birthday. Every year. This is actually a re-do of an old layout.
My birthday is in 14 days & I will be 24!

c & a.

I posted a peek of July's Scrap Muse kit on the blog (http://www.scrapmuse.com/blog/2008/07/01/july-kit-preview/) this week.

The picture was taken a few years ago. My little cousin isn't so little anymore.

But I just loved working with this kit & I was super excited that it wasn't patriotic themed. Just fun summery colors to go with your bright summer pictures.

button flowers!

I didn't come up with this idea. My fabulous friend Tami taught me. But they're gorgeous. Though it's not really obvious from the photo, they do look good in real life. & that vase, I made it in ceramics class in high school (5+ years ago). It's the only thing I made in that damn class that turned out. So I will have it on display for the rest of my life. Then my kids will display it. Because I'm proud of it.
In other news, be ready for some July Scrap Muse kit action! It's getting close!

Tally's June kit.

I wasn't sure how to use this Cosmo Cricket when I first saw it in real life... but it works perfectly for this picture of Hunter & his ball. Which he stole from the neighbor's kids. But he's so in love with it & with a precious face like that, you can't break his heart & make him give it back!

donating blood!

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, but I've been afraid (of the needle). As a nurse, I've infused a lot of blood & seeing first hand how it affects my patients, I told myself to suck it up & go donate. If you can donate, you should! So I made a resolution this year to donate blood & mom took me today! I was there for probably two hours; there were some minor difficulties. She didn't get my vein the first time & my blood wasn't flowing fast enough. It wasn't the best first time experience, but it wasn't so bad that I'll never do it again. In fact, the next drive is August 14 & I plan to go!

It was cold, but I enjoyed it!

B o n J o v i !

Hands down, the best concert I've ever seen. B o n J o v i was amazing. D a u g h t r y opened & I'm not a huge fan, but he's kinda hot. B i g & R i c h were there & so was L e e A n n R i m e s. We were probably the youngest people there, but who cares? B o n J o v i is hot!
