I don't have any current photos I want to scrap right now & sometimes when this happens I re-do older layouts that I don't really like. This collage was made and on a page from a couple of years ago. The photos are from our 2011 Christmas card photo shoot. I re-worked it with some MME and Cosmo Cricket papers from my stash. I added labels and pennants from Chic Tags and Elle's Studio. The enamel dots and and paper clip are Prima and the puffy stickers are evalicious. The cork hearts are Studio Calico and the cork houses are Freckled Fawn.

WWE birthday|My StampBox.

Q's birthday was in January and we had a small party at the bowling alley. All he asked for was a WWE belt. He was so excited to open it and immediately put it on.

I used the mini pennants stamp set from MSB. The star pennant is my favorite from the set. I also used the Sigh Gush Gasp stamp set with the 'smile' sentiment to create the patterned paper layering piece. I cut the 'smile' apart from the other parts of the stamp.

The patterned papers are from my February Studio Calico kit; the star veneers are also SC. I added some Elle's Studio pennant/label die cuts and the alphabet stickers are from my stash (Sassafras and Making Memories).

conversations with offenders [round 3]...

In honor of me finding a new job and no longer working at the prison, I thought I'd share some more funny conversations. You can also view round 1 and round 2.

Me: Uggh I left my tampons over on phase 2.
Other nurse (not paying attention to me at all): Do you want one of my Reese's sticks?
Me (confused): Umm... that's not really gonna help me.

In self defense training the instructor shows me a move & says: Then run & find a big, strong officer.
Me: Big & strong? We have those?
Entire class of new officers in the academy: Ooooh ouch.
Instructor: To you, Miss 112 Pounds, they're ALL big & strong.

Offender1 to me: Man, that's a pretty badass watch. That looks nice. Pink. Cute.
Me: Thanks
Offender1 to Offender2: Were you there when we were looking at those watches in that magazine? Her's is like the one I was going to get my daughter. That pink one. It's pretty nice.
Offender2: Yeah...
Offender1: But now that I know it's an old lady's watch, I'm not getting it for my daughter!

CNA: I dressed up as aunt Jemima, the black nanny from Gone with the Wind. I was a black woman! We have pictures!
Me: Aunt Jemima?! She's the syrup bottle lady.
Offender: That's Mrs Buttersworth!
Custody Officer: You mean the pancake mix lady.
Me: Oh. Yeah.

Offender: Ash, what are you doing here on a Saturday?
Me: Rebecca quit so I'm filling in.
Offender: She quit?! Why, did she get married?
Me: I don't know if she got married, she just quit. Are you saying I can quit too if I get married??
Offender: Yes! I only got 11 years left!

Offender: I only got 60 days left! Then I'm outta here.
Me: That's it? 60 days.
Offender: Yep. & I ain't never doin' drugs in Indiana again.

Offender: Can you get me my meds?
Me: Yeah. What do you take?
Offender: You. 

Me: You kind of look like Ron Artest.
Offender1: Man. That's messed up.
Me: You just resemble him a little bit.
Offender1: No one else has ever said that.
Me, to offender number 2: Doesn't he look like Ron Artest?

LCOM design team call.

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about creating and inspiring others. If you are not afraid to think outside the box, let loose and have fun getting creative with your projects, then you are perfect for our Let's Capture Our Memories Layout Design Team and/or Card Design Teams! 

Requirements: Let's Capture Our Memories is seeking designers who are interested in working with a team to create layouts and cards using sketches. You love sharing your projects and you take awesome pictures of them. You must have an active blog and you are willing to promote Let's Capture Our Memories on any online galleries/forums you participate as well as all aspects of social media and you are able to commit to a 6 month term from May 1, 2014 to October 31, 2014. 

Responsibilities: 1) Create 2-3 projects per month. 2) Post your projects on your own blog, your Facebook page and/or Twitter account on a weekly basis. 3) Promote Let's Capture Our Memories through your own personal blog, Facebook, Twitter and any online forums you are able to. 4) You will create projects on a rotational basis as scheduled. Send your "assignments" in a timely manner. 5) Upload your Layout and/or Card Design Team projects into the LCOM gallery monthly. 6) Some Forum participation will be required.

Inspiration Monday [LCOM featuring Elle's Studio].

Heyy! Good morning:) I have two Inspiration Monday posts this month! Today I was inspired by a layout by Janna Werner I found in the Elle's Studio gallery. Here's the layout:

 

I love the white space on this page. I changed my page to 8.5x11 size but keep the same general idea. So here's what I made:

I used tons of Elle's Studio on this page too, mostly from the Serendipity collection. The papers in this collection are so pretty. I used THIS piece specifically, turned on its side, and trimmed to 8.5x11 size. The patterned paper,  circle tags and the tabs are all from the Serendipity collection. The cut aparts at the bottom of my page are from the  Saltwater cut out sheet.

This photo is an Instagram shot from last year. We're so fortunate to live near an awesome paved trail and we use it pretty much every day, especially in the summer. Our city is really working hard to expand it and this past summer finished an expansion toward the north part of town. It's paved so it's great for running and a lot of it is shady so that makes it possible to take Bentley with us on our runs as well. It is so, so nice to have (and to live so close to!) that I wanted to be sure to document it, because it is a huge part of our lives.

I found a sketch at ScrapMuch?that I thought could easily be converted to 8.5x11 size. I had a small iphone photo printed off of B and Hunter from last May. It worked perfectly for this sketch.

I used mostly items from my March Studio Calilco kits. The plastic die cut hearts are from February's SC kit and the cork hearts are also SC. The letter stickers are Basic Grey (from my stash) and the enamel dots are Prima. The cute little paw print stamp is from the SC mini dog kit and the bone paperclip came from a Facebook scrapbook garage sale.

I always call the dogs 'piggie' because they always think they are starving. If we're eating, they think they need a bite as well. They are little piggies.

Thanksgiving dinner [LCOM sketch #64].

The media girls at Let's Capture our Memories are sharing another sketch reveal today! Here's our sketch #64 inspiration: 

 

I changed a few things on this sketch to make it work for me. First, I used one landscape photo instead of two photos as shown in the sketch. I used puffy stickers to form the circle accent shown in the upper right corner. Instead of layers of patterned paper anchored by embellishments in opposite corners, I layered die cut pieces and stickers all around my photo. I kept the title in the same general place.

I used the Jillibean Soup hexagon placemat as a mask with Studio Calico Mister Huey's in rudolph. The die cuts came from THIS Jillibean Soup Grandma's Lima Bean Soup diecut sheet and the Jillibean Soup cardstock stickers are from Grandma's Lima Bean Soup line also.

I added some droplets of Mister Huey's in Bazinga to the corners. The letter stickers are from my stash (Prima) and the plastic die cut hearts are from the Studio Calico February kits. My puffy stickers are from twine + ink and Evalicious. The washi is Freckled Fawn.

wish [card]|MSB design team all play!

For this month's all play at My Stamp Box, the design team is using their VersaColor inks to create a project. We have turquoise and cardinal.I put together a very simple card using two MSB stamp sets.

First I used the Let It Snow stamp set to create a border. I cut one of the small snow flakes in half and stamped it along the top and bottom of the main focal point of the card. Then I used the Sigh Gush Gasp stamp set for the 'wish' sentiment.

picture perfect [LCOM product shuffle].

It's the first day of SPRING! So exciting!! 

Today I'm on the LCOM blog sharing a page for the product shuffle: cardstock only. For this assignment I was given some Core'dinations cardstock. What makes this cardstock different is that the color runs all the way through the cardstock - no white core.

The LCOM store has many colors to choose from, including some of the Black Magic collection.This collection is extra special because the cardstock is black but the core is a bright vibrant color. The one I used on my page is Black Magic - Hex.

A cardstock only page was a hard assignment for me. I normally use patterned paper as a background and for matting and other accents on my pages. For this cardstock only page, I used a Studio Calico mask + Heidi Swapp color shine (in mustard and primrose) along with some ink splatters on the background. The Core'dinations cardstock is great for distressing; I sanded my Black Magic - Hex paper. It has a pink core. I stamped on some cardstock and fussy cut the images to add them. I also punched some border strips and heart shapes to add to the page.

meeting the captain [LCOM sketch#62].

Happy March! The LCOM media team is releasing sketch #62 and we're using Amy Tan. I hope you're not tired of my vacation photos yet because I've got another one on this photo. First, here is our sketch:

For this sketch, I was given the Amy  Tangerine Yes Please line. I love these colors and some of the designs are so pretty I don't want to use them... Like this pink camera patterned paper I used as my background. I used this cut apart sheet to add different embellishments and accents to my page.

This was our 'elegant' night on the cruise and we had some time to kill before dinner. We ended up in the bar by the casino having a couple of drinks. Out of no where these people are flocking around, camera flashes are going off everywhere, and there are about six guys dressed in their best. We realized we were at the captiain 'meet and greet' we'd heard an announcement about earlier in the day. You know the saying: When in Rome... So we jumped in for a photo with the captain as well.

Can you recognize some of the Amy Tan Yes Please remarks stickers I've used? You can view the package HERE but you will see I  removed the '&' and the pink camera banner die cut from the sticker backgrounds and used them alone on my page. I also removed the '2' from the yellow sticker background and I cut off the speech bubble part of the grey circle/pink heart embellishment. Sometimes you're attracted to the pre-,made embellishments in a package but they don't quite work on your page. It's ok to alter them!

I've also used some embellishments from the Studio Calico February kits (chipboard shapes, washi, plastic hearts). The stamp is an old(er) Studio Calico stamp, the Thickers are from my stash, and the geotag puffy sticker is from Skipping5.

happy birthday [card].

My aunt's birthday is this weekend and I got off work early today so I quickly whipped up this card. Hopefully it makes it to her in time.I was inspired by THIS sketch.

 

Mostly I used my Studio Calico March kits for this. I added some washi tape from my stash (Freckled Fawn) and two stamp sets from Sweet Stamp Shop stamp (distressed chevron, simple sentiments). I added some crystals from Prima.

Nassau sunsets|My Stamp Box..

I found this challenge on the Creative Embellishments blog. It's a sketch + a photo inspiration. I was inspired by the colors in the photo. Here's what I made:

I got this six piece nautical chipboard set and I used some heat embossing on this compass piece. 

My frame stamp is from the My Stamp Box Snapshot stamp set. I also heat embossed it.

This photo is from our cruise in January, leaving our last port (Nassau) and heading back home. It was the best sunset we saw on the whole cruise. 

I have some chipboard heart shapes from Studio Calico, sugar dots from Prima, geotag enamel shape from MME, Sassafras entwined bloom from my stash, puffy stickers from Evalicious, and my alphabets are from Pink Paislee and Sassafras.

hello [card]|My Stamp Box.

Here's a new way to use your stamp sets... 

I made this card using the Sigh Gush Gasp stamp set from My Stamp Box.  I cut apart one of the stamps so I could use only the little splash/dot/asterisk. You could also use a masking technique. These look like little paint splatters when used alone, which I think it is really cool!

Inspiration Monday [LCOM featuring Elle's Studio + Crate Paper]

Happy first Monday in March! I've got the Inspiration Monday post up on the LCOM blog today. I found my inspiration photo from Chictopia. I loved the blue and white contrast in this outfit (although I could never pull off something like this) + the metallics in the purse. I thought I would try the blue/white/gold combo on my page today. Be warned, it's another vacation page!

I have the Elle's Studio Serendipity line + the Crate Paper DIY line for my Monday post this time. These two collections go together really well and I am a huge fan of anything Elle's Studio.

I loved the B side of THIS paper. The flower pattern is something I would never use but that blue/white B side is perfecto for my inspiration post today. I also had the Serendipity circle tags and the Serendipity Large & Medium journal tags.

My embellishments are from the Crate Paper DIY Shop layered stickers + accent stickers. From the layered sticker pack, I adored the gold accented tags but I wasn't a huge fan of the sentiments on the tags. On one of the gold tags, I took an accent sticker and replaced the sentiment that came on the gold layered sticker. (Does that make sense?) Also in the layered sticker pack is a cluster of flowers but I really only wanted the blue flower so I just cut it of from the rest of the flowers and used it alone.
