in honor of nurse's week... [conversations with offenders round 1]

I thought I would share a few conversations I've had with offenders over the past few months.

Offender: Do you think if I asked the Dr he would prescribe me some Ashley?
Me: No.
Offender: Why? Every time I see you I feel better! I bet you could cure cancer!

Overheard officer1 say to officer2: Watch out for Ashley. She's a firecracker tonight!

Me, to the offender with Boxer's fractures in both hands: Hmm... who taught you to fight?
Offender: Nobody.
Me: Obviously!

Me: I need to see your ID.
Offender1: I told you my name. I wouldn't lie.
Me: Yes you would. You're a prisoner.
Offender2: Ugh. We can't be trusted because we're prisoners. *rolls eyes*
Me: Well at least I didn't say it's because you're black.

Offender, singing: They see me rollin,' they hatin,' tryin' to catch me ridin' dirty-
Me: Pretty sure they did catch you "ridin' dirty." That's why you're here.
Offender, frowning: Yeah. True.

Offender, talking about how he gets released soon: I'm really gonna miss you, Ash. I'm gonna think of you every time I see a squirrel.
Me: A squirrel?!
Offender: Yeah. Because you always wear a ponytail & it reminds me of a squirrel's tail.

vacation 2005.

Going back in time for a trip to Chicago back in 2005 with my mom for my 21st birthday. Used the Color Me Scrappy color scheme:

I used some of SC fountain square, as well as Papertrey Ink faux ribbon & Unity stamps set time for travel.

Pacers.

For the NSD challenge Go Graphic at Studio Calico & the sketch challenge there as well. I used SC boardwalk, Unity "throughout all generations" & Unity "A Love Beyond Measure."

Cowboys Stadium.

Using this sketch from Page Maps but I turned it into a two pager. Not something I do very often but I knew I couldn't fit all this onto one page. These photos are from our trip to Dallas back in November.

I used {Ippity} here and now & included the stadium map from our brochure from the tour. I used Cricut accent essentials for the journal spot & the scalloped border. That's probably my favorite cartridge to use.

Stitch Fix review #1.

I read about Stitch Fix & it sounded like a fun thing to do. Basically you pay $20 for them to style you. You fill out a survey about your sizes & colors you like to wear & different styles that you like or want to try. They charge you $20 & ship you five items.

I read this part:
We work with the best up-and-coming labels and brands -- the kind featured in magazines and on stylish celebs-- but our average price point is an accessible $75. We'll even try to keep the prices of items in your Fix close to what you're used to spending (no promises that it'll be exactly the price you want...we want to add some adventure!!) But, if you are into $30 accessories, and $100 dresses, we’ve got you covered. Are $100 tops and $200 necklaces more your style? We do that, too!
but I guess I didn't think it would truly be THAT expensive.

Imagine my surprise yesterday when my package arrived & the total was $248! For three shirts, a cardigan, & a ring. Of course the $20 applies to your purchase & if you buy all 5 items you get a 25% discount so the total was $166.

I tried everything on & they sent some cute stuff. [Except the ring. It's ugly & too big. The cardigan is too small.] Not really my normal style but cute stuff anyway. The only thing I would've considered keeping if it was in my price range was the navy tank. The detail on the back is pretty.

So needless to say, it was a fail.  I may try it again some time but I wasn't in love with any of these items. Here is a referral link if you want to try it for yourself: referral link

between the drinks & subtle things.

For a challenge at Tally Scrapper to use the song "we are young" & to use a black & white picture, which I failed on that part.

I used my Cricut accent essentials & home accent cartridges. I also used some of Studio Calico metropolitan, Unity Dec 2010  kit of the month, a moment in time by {ippity}, & Papertrey Ink simple valentine.

under the weather.

Inspired by the GHWI rain/showers challenge & Glitter Girl Adventure challenge at Two Peas. I used Unity Dec 2010  kit of the month & my Cricut Paper Pups cartridge for the umbrella border & some of my Lily Bee I got in my $45 box sale.

Photo is of Bentley last month after he ate his toy. He's never eaten a toy like that - usually he just chews them into eleventy kajillion pieces. This time, he ate it. Mostly he passed it all out but the next morning at 6a.m. he woke up & puked & then he was mopey & sick looking all day. I didn't feed him dinner or breakfast because I wanted it all to pass. Finally that afternoon I took him to the vet because he was still acting sick. She checked him out & he was fine but I got a huge lecture about appropriate toys. *sigh*

Lita.

For the City Crafter's challenge to use black/white/grey with a hint of pink. I'm afraid I used more than a hint. Hey, I like pink! & for the sketch challenge at Twisted Sketches. The twist is to use "animal" any how, anyway.

I used my Cricut paper pups  for the paw print border & the circle bone embellishment under the photo on the left; Little Red Scrapbook October 2010 main kit because I can't get enough of these papers; & I stamped the background of the pink to tone it down a little with Unity Nov 2010  kit of the month & Unity Aug 2010 kit of the month.

Journaling is a text conversation I had with TJ after Love of Labs contacted me about Lita. She was at a shelter in New Castle, Indiana, & her time was UP. Like, UP up. If I didn't get her on Friday, she was being put to sleep on  Saturday. We were leaving the next weekend to go to Chicago so we could only very temporarily foster her until a more permanent foster home opened up or she got adopted. I left right after work, it took 1.5 hours to get there (I think I took the long way), & I got there literally 10 minutes before they closed. She was a perfect angel on the ride home & we stopped at PetCo to get a collar (& matching pink leash!) for her because I didn't have any small enough. She was the sweetest little girl, definitely still very much a puppy, & Bentley loved having her as a playmate. I was contacted early the following week about a family who said she sounded perfect. Wednesday she went with the director of Love of Labs, who took her to be spayed, & then to meet her adopted parents.

Yes, she was adopted the following weekend!

what I'm loving Wednesday.

I haven't linked up in a while so I felt it was time.

I'm loving...
+ That pest control just came & sprayed the entire place because two nights ago one of these skittered across the ceiling. I immediately jumped out of bed, grabbed a library book off the nightstand, & smashed it on the ceiling. TJ said, "There was not underreacting there." These things are disgusting.
+That my aunt sent me this link & I ordered 35 of these Monday night after work & they are currently on the FedEx truck en route to me already. Cannot wait to get these & get all of my stamps organized!

+That I am almost finished with the eighth book in the Stephanie Plum series & I just requested the ninth from the library. I love requesting them because they get to search the shelves & find it for me, place it on the hold shelf, email me saying I can come pick it up, & I usually have it within 2 days. It's great.
+Also loving:
This is my reading list since I started this series...

thanks card.

For an older Paper Smooches Sparks  challenge. I used some of their free digi stamps, coloring the flowers with my Copics & cutting them out individually. Man, I need some new scissors! I also used my Cricut accent essentials cartridge & Studio Calico boardwalk kit.

who's your doppelganger?

Linking up with Raven to share my celebrity look alikes. When I used this site I got 5 males. Whaat?!

Here's a different result:

I don't think so.

It's funny because I actually get told I look like one celebrity a lot. I mean A LOT a lot. By strangers even. & she didn't even show up on any of  my results.

Once at work this little 5 year old boy came quietly up to me & said, "Are you the girl from Along Came Polly?" So cute.

right here right now.

first scan with my new Canon Pixma MX882!
For a sketch challenge at Twisted Sketches & the All about Me challenge "in the now." Breann already was super quick & busted this challenge out!

I used the Little Red Scrapbook October 2010 main kit because I just LOVE these papers. Also used Cricut Easter 2010 cartridge to cut the 6" doily which was actually a little too large. Stamps are {ippity} life's little moments & Unity kit of the month a little happy from May 2010.
