you might be a nurse if...
You use words like "penis" and "vagina" in normal conversation & think nothing of talking about vomit, blood, or poop at the dinner table.
You now use more 4 letter words than before you became a nurse.
You've wondered, 'Why am I here?'
You have encouraged obnoxious patients to sign out Against Medical Advice.
You can hold your bladder for 10+ hours.
You've had someone with tattoos literally from head to toe tell you he is afraid of needles.
You believe in the evil powers of full moons & speaking phrases with the word "quiet" in them.
You routinely ask, "What changed tonight that made it an emergency when it's been going on for 6 years?"
You've thought about having "DNR" tattooed on your chest.
You don't get excited about blood - unless it's your own.
You tell time with a 24 hour (military time) clock.
Your friends/family call you for nursing advice.

my happiness.
I made this for one of Shimelle's NSD challenges - to use square photos. This is an easy challenge; I take a lot of cell phone photos these days & editing them with Instagram changes them to square.
These photos were taken with my cell last summer, when I started the Hunger Games series.
what do you do?
I read. I jog. I spend too much time on Instagram & Twitter.
I make things, I scrapbook, I create things.
I take care of Bentley, I go on walks, I clean up poop, I vacuum dog hair endlessly, I continually clean up his messes.
I cook. I clean. I shop. I am a designated driver. I attend church, I pray, I praise God. I volunteer. I donate.
I overthink things. I lose my patience too easily. I get too excited about seeing bald eagles & owls while driving down country roads.
I make plans. I expect great things. I give really great advice. (but I'm not so great at taking it.)

spring tag for Gelatins Stamps.
It has finally felt like spring around here the past couple of days. Tuesday was sunny & in the 70s (although a little windy). Wednesday we hit the 80s! The weather put me in a spring-y mood!
I made a little tag with Gelatins Stamps Easter Bunnies. I know, Easter is over. But this stamp set also has a few cute flower stamps that could be used for anything.

First I used Chalkboard glimmer mist in cotton candy with with a Mistery Huey's mask from Studio Calico. The ink I stamped the image with is Prima chalk ink in raspberry pie. Then I used my Cricut & the Give a Hoot cartridge to cut out a few butterflies (3/4" & 1/2" sizes). I misted the butterflies with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in primrose & Smooch Spritz in cherry ice. I topped it off with some pink polka American Crafts ribbon.
Things that make me uncomfortable.
- being put on the spot/when I know people are watching
- high heels
- guys in skinny jeans
- that moment in church when you have to turn to the people around you, shake hands, & say "good morning"
- sharing my emotions
- babies & old people
- being wrong (which luckily doesn't happen very often)
- when someone announces their good news that isn't really good news ("we're expecting!")
- that puff of air in the eyeball test that the eye dr does

April running stats.
I ran a lot this month & it felt good. We had registered for a local race to benefit Bona Vista, which is why I was so adamant about putting miles in, but ended up canceling last minute. (It was cold!)
Run distance: 27.24 miles (!!)
Run time: 3:13:59

windmill farm.
Here's a layout I made with some Instagram photos. They recently have started a windmill farm in the southern part of the county which has been controversial & gotten a lot of press. We were on our way back from Indy a few weekends ago & I happened to notice them from the highway. Immediately I wanted to detour through the country & see them up close.
This was inspired by the Scrapbook Circle challenge to use springtime hues. I was thinking clear blue skies + warm yellow sun. Something we haven't seen much of yet - even though it's almost May! I was also inspired by this sketch at Scrap Much?
I used my April Studio Calico kits here - that yellow ombre patterned paper is from the Daily Grind add on & it also had a pretty pink ombre design on the other side. It was tough to decide between the two!

half the good things in my life... [LCOM sketch #17]
This is one of my favorite Gary songs. Photo was taken in Chicago this past December, when we were there to see him at Joe's Bar.
Here is our sketch:
Really loved this sketch & think I'll use it again. Here's my layout:
The letter stickers are all American Crafts & so is the silver glitter tape. The papers are all Pink Paislee Secret Crush. Bottom left corner has a strip of May Arts ribbon & an Elle's Studio label.
Don't forget to stop by to see what the other DT members created & to link up!

pouting face.
Poor Bentley & his pouting face. After we came back from a run we put B on "place" which is his karunda bed. [This was entirely brought forth from his trainer when we first got him. We wouldn't have come up with this on our own & at first I was against it but it has turned out to be a saving grace.] It's not punishment. It's "his place" where he can sit, lie, stand, have toys, whatever he wants but there are two rules. 1) he has to stay on place & 2) he has to be quiet on place. Anyway, sometimes he gets pouty when he's put on place, kind of like he is being punished. This day, we had come back from a run & put him on place so we could stretch on the floor. You can't get on the floor without B getting in your face. So this was his reaction to being on place at that time:
I used all three April SC kits for this one.

thanks card [LCOM sketch challenge #16].
Hey Hey! We've got a great sketch to share at Let's Capture our Memories & my assignment this time was a card. I used three hexagon shapes instead of the squares (like would be used for photos in a layout).
Here's our sketch:
Here's my card:
My supplies: the large hexagons are from the Sweet Stamp Shop pattern craze. The small hexagon border is from Paper Smooches geo-graphic. The sentiment is also from Paper Smooches - sentiment sampler. The ink is garden grass from the Prima chalk ink fluid edgers. The yellow polka dot paper is Studio Calico, the green plaid is American Crafts Botanique. The yellow flower paper came from my scrap stash so I'm not sure who made it but it's rather old.
Stop by the LCOM blog to see how the other DT members used this sketch.
The rules:
1. Make a newly created project using the provided sketch and upload it to your blog or online gallery.
2. Then leave a link to your project using the Inlinkz widget. Please use a direct link to your LCOM Sketch post and not just your blog address.
