I found the January sketch on Scrapbook Circle and whipped up a quick layout... but didn't get it posted in time. I used the Teresa Collins Tinsel and Company Christmas line.

where flowers bloom... || Paper Wings Productions February link up: red.

This month the link up theme at Paper Wings Productions is RED.Valentine's day is in the air around here! My V day mantle is all set up in my downstairs family room and I made a little goodie bag for the link up party at PWP.

This is just a kraft bag, approximately 5" x 7" size. I used heat embossing with one of the flower stamps from the Mini Flowers cling stamp set to start the background on my bag. Then I used one of the texture stamps from the Art Textures stamp set and inked it with a mix of Lindy's Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist + Faber-Castell's white gel medium. I stamped the background of the bag and then blasted it with my heating tool to dry it. The gel medium helps to create a true textured background, but as a resist. You can't really see the pattern until you start working with ink blending on the background.

I should note - add a scrap piece of paper to the inside of your bag before you start working on the exterior of the bag.

So now I have my heat embossed flowers and my resist texture. Now I add my sentiment, which is from the Flowers cling stamp set. I stamped it with StazOn ink so I would get a great crisp image that didn't rub off. I sprayed a fine mist of that same Moon Shadow Mist onto the bag, blasted it with my heating tool to dry it, and then I started ink blending the background with red ink.

Then I got to work on my tag. I basically used the same ideas - heat embossed a stamp from the Art Textures set, heat embossed the flowers with red this time, and then spritzed some of that mist on the background. I also stamped the flowers with a mixture of the gel medium + the mist to get a resist image of the flowers, then I used my red ink blending on the background. 

I dropped some candies in the bag, used twine to attach my tag to my goodie bag, and now I'm all set for the big day! I hope you'll join us on with your RED creations. You can post your link up HERE. Have fun!

Sketchy Friday

I shrunk this sketch down to 8.5 x11 size, which meant losing one of the photos. I still hadn't scrapped much of Christmas and I loved this photo of our living room this year with one of our trees. I used a bunch of embellishments from Chic Tags, Glitz Design, Elle's Studio,and a Christmas stamp set from Studio Calico.

I really like the way this turned out using the smaller scale. Always remember, sketches are just a starting point. You can manipulate them however you need to for your pages!

Yes to... Love.

I found a sketch on the Back Porch Memories blog and made this page. 

I combined the sketch challenge with Kelly's Scrappy Friend word challenge. I used the word LOVE.

That 'yes to...' card is from the SC Walden PL kit. I trimmed it down and then fussy cut 'love' heart from another PL card. I don't formally do project life, but I sometimes do pocket style scrapbooking so every once in a while I pick up at PL kit. I also use the PL cards on other projects so that helps keep my PL card stash from getting too large!

I am loving my new MFT dies. I only used two from this die set but I just love being able to make my own little labels. This is from the Accent It - Labels and Tabs die and I used my Spellbinders Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machine to die cut these babies.

I adore this little puppy in the Doggy Dog stamp set by Sweet Stamp Shop. I'm such a sucker for puppy dog scrapbooking supplies and embellishments ;)

Isn't he adorable? I used some of my mini distress ink pads to color him and then fussy cut him. I added the bone border from the same Doggy Dog stamp set and the sentiment from a different SSS stamp set. You can't really tell in the photo, but that embossing powder is sort of iridescent. It's really pretty in real life. Now a dog lover in my life is going to get a kick out of receiving this card!

happy birthday [card].

Playing around with ink blending today and pulled out a vintage (retired) Sweet Stamp Shop background stamp. I heat embossed with white and then used some distress ink blending to make a colorful background. I knew I wanted to mount my design on a black card base so my colors would really stand out.

I used another SSS stamp for the sentiment and ink blended with pale pink ink around the edges of the sentiment. I added some cute twine and called it done!

the best is yet to be || Scrapping Turtle Mini Crop.

Hey everyone! Today I have a mini crop challenge at the Turtle Soup forum.Our theme is celebrations! Head over to the forum and see what other challenges there are. 

My celebration theme is graduation and my challenge is to use sequins! Here's my page:

This is from Jodi's high school graduation earlier this year. Their mascot is the purple tiger so I used a KP stencil with some purple ink blending. I added the polka dot bag from a Scrapbook Circle kit (October 2014/On This Day) and the stamps are by Unity Stamp Co. 

For the 'happy' sentiment, I stamped with StazOn ink, then used the distress ink for some ink blending, and then I pop dotted it up off the page. My other stamp 'the best is yet to be' is inked onto a Lawn Fawn circle die cut that I cut with my Spellbinders Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machine.

Hello and welcome to our first card sketch of 2015 at Stick It Down! What I love so much about using sketches is they are just a creative starting point. You can interpret the sketch however you want! Here's our January card sketch:

January Stick It Down card sketch

On the sketch, you see all these layers behind your sentiment. I chose to use ink blending for my background of the card to re-create that layered look.

I heat embossed my title using Ranger's Super Fine Detail powder in silver. This was a true test to see if it really was "super fine detail" because this stamp set is a really thin handwriting font. Look how beautiful it turned out! I'm a fan for life.

Christmas Day.

I know Christmas is becoming a distant memory, but I have these photos of my cousins and I love them and I've really wanted to scrapbook them. Actually I have not scrapped any Christmas yet at all! So I used mostly my Teresa Collins Tinsel and Company line. I got the idea to use the tags like this from YouTuber Jen Schow. She did a video flip through of her 2014 album and I got so many ideas from seeing her pages!

I worked with the Scrappy Friends challenge for January using Kelly's color challenge + Rochelle's tic tac toe challenge. I used die cuts, three patterned papers, and gold.

I really like the way this page turned out and it was fun to do a Christmas page!

Abe Lincoln|ScrapMuch?!

We're revealing our first Sketchy Friday of 2015 on the ScrapMuch?! blog today!This is our sketch:

I actually followed this sketch pretty closely, which I don't always do. These photos were taken last May, right before school was out for the summer. TJ's nephew's class had a "wax museum" of historical people and he was Abe Lincoln. He actually memorized a lengthy speech and then other classrooms came down to go through their wax museum and they recited their speeches. It was a neat little event to attend and he was so happy to see us there!

my favorite || PWP link up party.

I'm sharing a card today for the Paper Wings Productions link up party. This month the theme was anything goes and I've been wanting to work on some ink blending so I thought the mermaid would be a great opportunity to use some distress inks. I paper pieced the mermaid, working on her tail and her hair separately. Both are done using distress ink blending. 

I stamped the mermaid onto some white paper and starting blending her hair. I used walnut stain + gathered twigs and I fussy cut her hair. Then I stamped the mermaid again, this time to work on her fin. I used peeled paint, faded jeans, broken china, evergreen bough, and scattered straw. Then I fussy cut the fin. I stamped the mermaid a third time and this was my base image. I lightly added skin tone using gathered twig ink and then I attached her fin and her hair. All that was left to do was color her eyes and her cheeks with Copic markers and add drops off glitter glue for her top.

I also used inks to make the 'ocean.' For that I blended evergreen bough and broken china.

Isn't it pretty?! I am falling in love with distress ink blending.

Hey everyone! I have a new card challenge posted today over at the Turtle Soup forums. My challenge is to use twine on your card (or you can use ribbon if you don't have any twine).Here's my card:

I used a background stamp from the Sweet Stamp Shop + white heat embossing. Then I did some resist ink blending with an orange and red ink. My sentiment is stamped with the same orange ink and then I added some twine.
