father's day 2015.

 I've wanted to scrapbook all week and finally had some time today to sit down and do something. I found this sketch challenge on the Boys Rule blog and used a photo of my brother and my dad golfing this past father's day.

I converted the sketch to 8.5 x 11 size so obviously that changed my dimensions and layers a little bit. Also I promise the colors aren't as flashy and clashy in real life. thanks for looking!:)

Hey everyone! I have a card challenge up at Scrapbooking Turtle today. My challenge is to use some of your NEW items. Sometimes I receive an order and I put it away and forget about it or I tuck it away because it's so pretty and I want to save it. So for this challenge, I want you to actually USE something that you've recently purchased. Now "recent" is subjective and for me, I recently received the Bella Blvd Riley & Rover collection so that's what I used on my card.

I also recently ordered an ombre ink pad by Hero Arts so I used that to make my background on my card.

August Reveal and Joint Blog Hop | Sparkle N Sprinkle.

I was excited to participate in this blog hop for such a great cause! Since I work in the healthcare field, I am aware of the devastating effects of cancer - not just on patients but on their family and friends as well. There are many cancer awareness choices but I decided to use breast cancer.

So many women don't have mammograms done and it's an easy test! I think it's fear of the unknown. If detected early, the survival rate is nearly 100%! You have to do it. The current recommendation is for a screening mammogram every 1 - 2 years starting at age 50, but you should discuss this with your doctor.

Now, onto my project! First I colored the base of the my card with distress inks. Next I die cut my ribbon words with Die-Versions Awareness Ribbon Words die. For my "hope" ribbon I used distress inks to color a scrap piece of white cardstock and then I die cut from that. For my "love" ribbon, I die cut through an adhesive sheet, peeled off the top layer, and applied Neon Flamingo glitter (G1084S).

Next I grabbed my SNS stamp set Survivor (713). I stamped the image with Versamark and then heat embossed with Black Detail embossing powder (EP11S). This is an awesome fine detail embossing powder. I added Neon Flamingo glitter to the ribbon and Florida Beach glitter (G1111S) to the little hearts.

I attached my "ribbons" with some pink ribbon and used pop dots for my other stamped image.What do you think?

Grand Victoria.

I'm participating in CSI Case File No 171which went pretty perfectly with a recent trip to the casino where I won $15. I can be easily distracted so these challenges are sometimes difficult for me because I find myself straying from the colors or the journal prompt, but I think I did pretty good this time.

The evidence I used are triangles, labels, cork, dots, and something transparent. The testimony I used is document a celebration. I've been to a casino before but I haven't really gambled. At the Grand Victoria Casino I was looking for penny slots (do those exist anymore?) but I found $.25 slots. TJ gave me $2 to play and I ended up winning $15. For a brief moment I considered continuing gambling. I actually was up to $16 but when I lost, I cashed out. I took my $15 and bought us two drinks from the bar. Now that's reason for a celebration!

the beach is calling.

I combined THIS sketch from ScrapMuch? with the Paper Issues challenge this month. I used the PI August free printable - The Beach is Calling. I loved this card the second I saw it and I knew I wanted to color it with Copic markers and use it with some beach photos. I grabbed a couple pictures from our trip to Florida back in March/April.

I used a mirror image of the sketch but kept the same basic design. I lovelovelove this printable card. I colored with Copic markers and then used distress ink around the edges.

baby Eli.

I finished up a page today using this sketch I found at Boys Rule kit club. This is my littlest cousin - my second cousin, actually. He just turned one this month and they live in Georgia so I recently got to meet him and he's so sweet. I actually spent Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon with the sweet little guy. He and his mom were in town for graduation and baseball festivities.

I changed this sketch to 8.5x11 size which kind of throws things off a little bit. My "long title" isn't exactly long but for the scale on the page it is.

I was excited to be included in this month's mini release from Sparkle N Sprinkle because it meant playing with digital stamps which is something I haven't done much. I received the Birds of a Feather stamp set (726-P5) and I thought these chicks were perfect for using my Copic markers.

First I printed my images on Copic-friendly white cardstock and I colored both chicks with Copic markers. I used glitter for their accessories - neon flamingo (G1084) and mountain mist (GM2013). Then I set my chicks aside to dry.

For my base of the card, I used a stencil + Dreamweaver's embossing paste in white. I applied Cappuccino Star (EP434) embossing powder over the wet embossing paste and heat embossed it. I love how the embossing paste gives some texture to my card base.

Next I used some distress ink on my sentiment and adhered it to my card base. I used foam dots to adhere my chicks for some extra dimension on the card.

So Suzy Stamps: guest designer.

Today I am guest designing at So Suzy Stamps. I love their snarky stamp sets but they have lots of other (non-snarky) stamps too. Go check out the SSS blog today to see what I made!

For this card, I used the Open Road stamp. I have lots of photos I could use this stamp on in my scrapbook pages but I also envisioned a sunset created with distress ink blending. So that's how I made this card.

I started with the Herb 4 stamp set.  I stamped it along the bottom of my card base with Versamark and then heat embossed with white. Then I started from the bottom with yellow distress ink and started working up the card base with into oranges and reds. I stamped the sentiment withVersamark right in the middle of the card and heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

For my second card, I used the Built from Fire stamp set and I looove this sentiment.

For my  background, I used a stencil and Dreamweaver's crackled embossing paste to make the bricks. I applied gold embossing powder and heat embossed the embossing paste, which gave the bricks some texture. I applied Tim Holtz distress ink in Barn Door to the whole background of the card. Around the edges, I applied Aged Mahogany and then used my distress tool to rough up all the edges. I used a sanding tool to lightly go over the whole card for a little bit of distressing. Then I inked my sentiment and looped an anchor paperclip through some twine for a finishing touch.

Hey everyone! Today I'm on the PWP blog sharing a card I made. I used the text background stamp and the crown stamp set. I heat embossed both of those and then used distress ink blending for the base of my card. I stamped a sentiment from Fall Mix It Up and then made a little banner which I adhered with foam dots.

celebrate||Scrapping Turtle.

Today I'm sharing a celebration challenge for Scrapping Turtle. My challenge is to use gold or silver on your project.

This is a photo taken at my cousin's sectional championship baseball game at the beginning of June. They lost the regional game, but it was exciting for them to win a sectional championship as it hadn't been done since 2000.
