homemade [Growing in Unity week].

Happy Thursday GIU fans! Today's layout features the December 2014 SMAK kit. I love this kit for backgrounds.

I chose the messy heart stamp and used Barn Door distress ink to ink it. I spritzed my background paper with water prior to stamping my image. It's a very subtle effect, but it helps the ink blend and smudge a bit and makes the image not so crisp. If that's the look you're going for.

I still need to add my journaling. We finally got our front living room done and it's so beautiful and I love it. My husband worked so hard to get the flooring done quickly and it was his first flooring project so we are very pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks for coming by today!

M [Growing in Unity week]

Hello GIU friends!

The stamp set I used for the journal spot on this layout is so old... September 2008 Kit of the Month. I couldn't even find it on the Unity website to link it.

This is my nephew, and this page is going in his album, so I wanted a space where his mom or dad could write a little note. I used the fine black detail embossing powder again. I just love how shiny it is.

I also have this heart border stamp I used - I'm not even sure which kit it came from. I've had it so long and I really like the hearts. It's so versatile and I've used it on tons of pages.

 Thanks for looking!

my heart belongs in... [Growing in Unity week]

Hi everyone!

This layout was made using the February 2013 SMAK kit. Travel themes are one of my favorite and I wanted to show how they can be more versatile than just strictly vacations. These photos were just Snapchats taken while driving with my dogs.

For my "ticket," I used heat embossing with some fine detail black embossing powder. For my title, I stamped directly onto my background. I know, I know, that's so dangerous. Note: if you're using a slow drying ink, make sure you don't smear it!

Thanks for tuning in today!

The ocean is everything I want to be... [Growing in Unity week]

Hi Unity friends! Welcome to my Growing in Unity week!

I have some fun projects to share this week - I hope you enjoy them. Today's page is a beach page and those are probably my favorite memories to scrapbook. For this page, I used the January 2018 SMAK kit. I love love love this kit.

I chose one of the quotes to double as my 'title' for this page. I don't always have a title; I just don't think it's necessary. I used three different blue distress inks to color my stamp prior to stamping on my page. It gives it a very faint ombre look that I really like.

For my netting stamp, I used distress oxide ink. These inks are thicker and take longer to dry so it gave my netting sort of a water soaked look.

Thanks for visiting today!

vacay mode.

Hello friends! This one is for a food challenge at Paper Issues this month. Photos are from our Mexico trip in February. We love love love the fresh pico when we're there. So yummy! I used a page from the Vicki Boutin ready to use mixed media paper pack for my background.

The cut file is from Cut to You and then I used a bunch of goodies from my stash. Thanks for looking!

so very happy.

Hi there! I have one more NSD layout to share for Elle's Studio. This challenge was to use repeating shapes.

I used the acrylic heart shapes. I  also grabbed some journal cards from Elle's Studio, along with some random puffy stickers. I finished this page off with sequins (Dragon Tales sequins from SMS)! Thanks for looking!

eat.

This page is for a NSD at Elle's Studio to use a series of three photos. You also have to use at least two Elle's Studio products. Everything on this page is from ES except the background paper (Vicki Boutin Color Study) + alpha stickers (Bella Blvd).

This page is going in my nephew's album so I left a journal card blank for his mom/dad to add journaling. Thanks for looking!

2021 photos & stories.

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing a NSD challenge project for Elle's Studio. One of the challenges is to use numbers in an big way. I found this Paper Issues cut file and I meant to make a sequin shaker but I totally forgot.

The patterned paper is from the Vicki Boutin mixed media paper pack. I cut my photo to fit in the star shape, which is kind of awkward, but it's what I had in mind for this page. I used an Elle's Studio stamp, the acrylic stars, and then the chipboard stickers. This will be kind of a 2021 intro page for my nephew's album. Thanks for looking!

still doing this [Challenge YOUrself 89].

Time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself

We wanna see your FACE! For this challenge, I used a mask selfie from work. I used a cut file from Paper Issues, some papers from my stash, and some PinkFresh embellishments. I added some sequins for a final blingy detail.

Thanks for looking!

We both have Covid.

Kind of a tongue in cheek page about us both being sick with Covid. Changed my photo to sepia toned and used some embellishments from the Pink Paislee 5th & Monaco collection. The patterned paper is from a 6x6 paper pad. I mounted four papers on some cardstock.

This is for a challenge at Lasting Memories to use flowers and tags. Nailed it. Thanks for looking!

travel as much as you can.

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing a layout based on a sketch at Paper Issues. I don't normally do four photo layouts. I think they're hard! But I made this work. I used lots of Bella Blvd goodies from my stash.

Thanks for looking!

start here // Denise Boddey Design Team.

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing a layout using some new patterned papers from Denise Boddey Designs.

I love the watercolor background look of the After the Rain patterned paper. So pretty! I applied gesso + Shimmerz to create my own mixed media design as a mat for my photos. I wanted it to blend and coordinate with the pattern paper background. I used the Chic patterned paper to mat my photos. After that was dry, I grabbed the mini brick stencil from TCW to add some more interest behind my photos. I mixed Shimmerz Keep Palm with some opaque texture paste from Ranger. Then I just added some embellishments from my stash!

This page is going in my nephew's album. Thanks for looking!

hello summer.

This week Lasting Memories has a challenge to use 4x4 photos. This was more difficult than I thought it would be. I combined this challenge with the 'tickled pink' challenge at Paper Issues this month.

I planted cosmos in my butterfly garden last summer - a first. They were gorgeous! and lasted well into the fall. I can't wait to get some more this summer!

you are gold.

I'm back with the 'all the glitters is gold' challenge for Paper Issues. I used my brayer and some black gesso on this white cardstock. While the gesso was still wet, I threw down some gold SMS sequins. Then I found this gorgeous gold foil paper from Studio Calico I've been hoarding and cut out a Paper Issues cut file.

These photos were when I was practicing with my new iPhone 12 portrait modes. I thought it was cute to fit them inside the cut file. Thanks for looking!
