Skipping Stones Designs | Witching you a Happy Halloween!

Hey guys! I'm on the Skipping Stones Designs blog today sharing my first official design team post.

This witch hat is from the Halloweenie stamp set.

I have the digital stamp set and I am still a novice with digital stamps. First I tried to print my stamp and then watercolor it, but the ink smeared.

So plan B was to watercolor first, then print the image over the top. I used Shaded Lilac distress ink with my watercolor brush and added a few sequins for a final touch.

autumn has arrived.

Finally today I got a chance to play with my October Elle's Studio kit. This kit had some orange and black that I wanted to use on an autumn page and I knew just the photo to use!

I recently decorated for autumn and had a photo shoot out front with the dog. He was paid in treats :)

I was inspired by the tic tac toe challenge at Scrap Our Stash. I used orange, pumpkins, and die cuts. I used the October 22 sketch challenge at The Studio Challenges. Here's my page:

Today I'm sharing a card I made with the Hey Cupcake stamp set. I chose the little cupcake to stamp, heat emboss, and watercolor.

I use distress ink + my Tim Holtz watercolor brush after I heat embossing the stamped cupcakes with white fine detail embossing powder. Then I fussy cut them and did the same technique with the cupcake stand. I didn't want the whole stand - it was too large for my cupcakes! - so I fussy cut just the top part of the cupcake stand for my card. Always be on the look out for ways to make your stamps go further and work for your needs!

My sentiment is also from the Hey Cupcake stamp set, which I heat embossed with a coordinating pink embossing powder. I added a spot of watercoloring to my base using the same distress inks I used on the cupcake frosting. I think it helps to ground my sentiment.

Then I adhered the cupcake stand and my cupcakes with pop dots.

I have a little bit of this summer's Live Laugh Love collection from Elle's Studio that I'm trying to get through, but that has been one of my favorite Elle's Studio collection kits.

Here’s my card:

I am a newbie to digital stamps, but the Birthday Purses stamp set has some cute purses I wanted to work with. I chose one of the purses, printed it on Copic friendly paper, colored it, and fussy cut it.

Now this stamp set is called "birthday" purses, but the sentiments are not strictly birthday. For example, I made a thank you card.

I took a stencil and used some distress ink blending to make my background. Then I printed the sentiment directly onto my background. I wasn't sure how this would turn out, but it worked great.

I got some new goodies from A Cherry on Top this week and went to work right away on this page. This is the new Gratitude Documented line from Illustrated Faith. I added in some puffy hearts from Fancy Pants + journal tags and bits from Elle's Studio.

Use your Stuff has a challenge to use pink this month for breast cancer awareness. The October challenge at Show us Your Stuff is to use three items that start with F. I used orange flair, pink 'family' tab, Fancy Pantsn puffy heart stickers, and floral patterned paper.

Saturday good times.

Today I'm playing along with Sketch 97 from The Memory Nest. I rotated this sketch sideways for this page.

I got out my Pink Paislee/Paige Evans Take Me Away collection. I only have a few patterned papers from this collection, but they're soft, pretty colors that I really like.

I combined some of the stickers from Crate Paper Oasis and washi from Pink Paislee Summer Lights for this page, which coordinated really well with this Take Me Away line. It was a pleasant surprise!

Last night I worked with the October 1 sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. I've been itching to use the Home Sweet Home kit I recently received from Kelly Purkey. I printed one of our engagement photos to use with the 'home' theme.

Do you remember these resist chipboard hearts from Pink Paislee? How old are these babies?! It was fun to get those out of my stash and mix those ancient things in with some new stuff.

I played around with the Flower Turnabout stamp from Concord & 9th this morning. I used my mini MISTI tool and some distress inks to create the background. Starting with the lightest color of distress ink, I inked up the image and then spritzed some water on it before stamping it on my card base. I repeated this process with all four distress ink colors, rotating my card base for each color.

My sentiment is from the same stamp set and is heat embossed with fine detail black embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I love using this embossing powder for sentiments on cards.

For the final touches, I added some Prima crystals and tied a ribbon. Thanks for looking!

Here is my project for the hop:

I used my Cricut Expression (I know - I'm still old school!) to help me make this shaker card. I cut this globe from the Doodlecharms cartridge as a shadow at 4" with the idea to make it into a shaker globe for a card. I used the Halloween Mix It Up stamp set for this shaker card.

I use extra page protectors to make my shaker cards, with the help of my Fuse tool. First, I stamped out the witch hat and the spider, heat embossed both images, and fussy cut them.

After I had my sequins and stamped images stuffed into my 'shaker,' I sealed it all up with my Fuse tool and adhered it to my globe base.

For my sentiment, I chose "happy hauntings," which I heat embossed with fine white detail embossing powder.

Lastly, I adhered my shaker onto my card base.
